Falkirk Creative Collective64
About the Artist
We are a group of artists from around the UK, Europe and Canada who now live and work in Falkirk, formed in early 2016. We draw inspiration from our local landscape, landmarks, people and historic buildings (as well as the places we have previously called home). Each of us has a different specialism, including: painting, portraiture, mixed media, printmaking, jewellery, sculpture and ceramics.
We are holding our exhibition in the old Central FM building as part of the ongoing regeneration of the building. We will be involved in creating some decorative elements of the building once repairs are complete and some of us will have studio space there. We also plan to run classes for children and adults.
We formed our group to motivate and support each other, and to share our diverse skills and knowledge.
At present Dani is producing sculptures from recycled materials, having been given a large quantity of roof slate and copper wire. She is letting the materials guide her in making a new series of sculptures. She also works on community projects.
David has been producing prints of Falkirk landmarks and historic buildings. He is also making commissioned pieces from family photographs.
Anna is inspired by forms and patterns found in nature,as well as her physical surroundings.
Nicole is a ceramicist and is currently using this to inspire paintings. She is also making mixed media pieces based around scraps of wallpaper from her grandparents' house.
Karen is currently working on portraiture and last summer she was making and selling portraits at the Kelpies.
