East Neuk Studio23
About the Artist
Christine McIver's current work explores migration. Layers of fluid ink and paint are allowed to saturate the paper, and the random flow of paint is shaped to reveal the final image. Her work also includes elements of printmaking and marbling. Marbling workshops on the 16th & 17th. 12-5.00pm. Phone to book a place.
Archie McIver is experimenting in photography and constructed items.
Christine and Archie McIver, are an artist, and physicist turned artist.
Like many artists Christine's art interests took a back seat for several years after graduating. But when her seven year old daughter, Lucy challenged her boldly with; " your'e not an artist, artists paint pictures.", she was inspired to take action. Her husband renovated a derelict stable, creating studio space for her to work.
Since then, Christine has had work in several galleries; some in Scotland and some in Ireland. She has become a member of the GSWA, and has participated regularly in the open studio event. Her motivation to have more time to explore and experiment, has led to her retiring early from teaching, in May. This year she hopes to finally be a full time artist. Thank you Lucy!
Archie McIver is interested in both science and art and enjoys exploring aspects of both in his work.
Fri 16th and Sat 17th June, 12-12.30pm
Christine McIver will explain the basic technique and materials used, along with a demonstration. This will be followed by an opportunity for participants to create their own beautiful papers.
Marbling is a very relaxing experience and in some parts of the east is used as much for it's therapeutic value as it's visual impact. So if you need somewhere to recharge your batteries in between studio visits, this is for you.
Space will be limited to four people per session, so please phone to book a place. The price is £4.00 per person, to cover the cost of materials, all of which will be provided.
