About the Artist
Evelyn works with hand dyed and hand painted fabrics to create her individual works of textile art, including her famous poppies, using free hand machine embroidery and embellishments. Her latest collections include mixed media and original painted pieces.
Eco Echoes make products by up-cycling items such as tweed and leather jackets to make handbags, book covers and decorative items.
Evelyn Ramsay is a prolific textile artist who works with hand dyed and hand painted and printed ‘found’ fabrics to create individual works of textile art. This is Evelyn's first appearance at Forth Valley Art Beat having moved home last year, and previously was a regular participant in Perthshire Open Studios.
Evelyn has produced an exciting vibrant new collection inspired by nature, past memories and reflections on life which includes mixed media and original painted pieces to showcase alongside her signature poppies. Pieces vary in size, as small as A5 and up to the size of a large quilt.
For Evelyn, opening her studio to Forth Valley Art Beat for you to visit is a labour of love, as it is virtually her whole home, not just the studio, that is prepared and turned into a gallery with her works for viewing and purchase.
Evelyn can give demonstrations of the methods and processes she uses to produce her pieces. These demonstrations are always inspirational and inevitably become hands on!
Evelyn took up quilting and textile art after her retirement, gained formal qualifications and over 20 prolific years has won international awards.
